The symptoms herein presented in this website are intended to serve as an overview and not as criteria for making a diagnosis.
Depression is one of the leading indicators of suicide so we must
never underestimate this illness. At the same time, despite
depression being so widespread, it remains to be one of the most treatable
illnesses out there.
Yes, I did
call Depression an illness or better yet a disease. That's exactly
what it is. Contrary to what others may THINK, Depression is
a disease. Depressed people just don't wake up one day and say
that they WANT to be depressed and feel miserable and helpless.
It isn't something people CHOOSE to do. No matter what some people
may say, it's not something you can just "snap out of." At the
same time, depression is not something you should be ashamed of.
It's a serious disease that can even take someone's life if not treated.
Like any serious illness, depression needs to be treated. The
thing is not to STAY in that depressed state. There IS help
out there. So, with this website, I hope to educate and
help those who suffer from Depression.
